Ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has assured Nigerians that the team will put its best efforts into making the country and their families proud.

Nigeria, who last lifted the Afcon trophy in 2013, will be seeking a fourth title when the tournament begins on Sunday in Cameroon.

“We are going to make Nigeria proud and make our families proud,” Musa said, while speaking at the team’s base in Cameroon. “We are not just coming here to look at the city and how beautiful it is, we want to write our name in history so that when our kids grow up, they can say ‘our Dad did this.’

The Super Eagles will take on the Pharaohs of Egypt in their opening group stage match on Tuesday before squaring off against Sudan and Guinea-Bissau.

Musa is confident that with support from Nigerians, the team will do well.

“With the support we are having from everyone in Nigeria, we are going to make them happy.”

Nigeria finished third last time out but will try to go all the way in Cameroon this time around.
