Victor Osimhen returns to Germany with a bang

Victor Osimhen continued his impressive recent goal scoring form as he netted again in Napoli’s 2-0 away win at Eintracht Frankfurt in a champions league round of 16 first leg tie.

The Nigerian international was once on the books of Bundesliga side Wolfsburg as a teenager six years ago but without much success. And on his return to where it all began for him in Europe, he sent a timely reminder to the rest of Germany about his undoubted abilities by scoring against Frankfurt.

Napoli started the game well and were awarded a penalty in the 34th min after Osimhen was fouled in the box.

However, Napoli couldn’t convert as Osimhen left penalty duties to Kvaratskhelia who then missed from the spot to keep the score at 0-0 up to that point.

Then five minutes before the break, Osimhen wasn’t to be denied.

Racing through on goal from the middle, he burst into the Frankfurt penalty area to meet Lazano cross into the box and bundled it in at the back post thereby handing his team the lead.

Captain Di Lorenzo made it two for the away side in 65th min and Napoli saw out the rest of the game against the 10-men of Frankfurt – Kolo Muani was sent off – to cap an excellent performance with a beautiful win.

Osimhen was subbed off in the 84th min to be replaced by Simeone.

With his strike tonight, Victor Osimhen now has 20 goals in all competitions for Napoli.
