Sooner or later, I will win Afcon – Egypt’s Mo Salah says

Egypt forward Mohamed Salah has said he’s going to win the Africa Cup of Nations, if not now then in the future.

Egypt are the tournament’s most successful nation, with 7 titles. However, their most recent triumph came in 2010 – one year before Salah made his debut for the Pharaohs.

Nations Cup glory continues to elude the striker, who’s won virtually everything at the club level with Liverpool, including the Champions League.

The 31-year-old came agonizingly close in the last edition but fell to Senegal in the final, but he is confident that he will triumph with Egypt.

“I will love to win it. I have won everything possible but this is the one that hasn’t happened yet. But it will happen somehow,” he said while taking a question from Eric Njiru during a presser in Ivory Coast.

“That’s what I believe and whatever I believe I achieve. So sooner or later, it will happen.”

Egypt are yet to win a match at the ongoing Nations Cup, having drawn against Mozambique and Ghana. However, they are second in the group, behind leaders Cape Verde who have already advanced to the last-16.

The Pharaohs will face Cape Verde on Monday evening with a chance to advance to the knockout stage.

Captain Salah, though, remains a doubt for the match as he’s still recovering from the injury he picked up in their second game against Ghana.
