On the final day of the transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea verbally agreed that winger Hakim Ziyech would be loaned out to PSG. However, the transaction may not go through.
The two clubs finally announced that they had reached an agreement on a loan deal without a buy-back clause for the Moroccan international after hours of discussions.
While the teams were still in talks, Ziyech arrived in Paris to finish his medical, but there is a significant problem with the deal.
OMASPORTS understands that Chelsea frequently sent inaccurate documentation, which resulted in the deadline for the required paperwork submission being missed. Ziyech’s transfer was submitted after the deadline as a result.
Although PSG will have the chance to appeal to the French football authorities, sources on Tuesday evening suggested that they are not holding out much hope of signing the Moroccan international for the rest of the season.
The Ligue 1 giants failed in an approach for Malcom immediately before the Ziyech fiasco, so this is not the first setback PSG has encountered in January. Milan Skriniar was another player they tried to sign before the deadline.
Although the defender and the Parisians have come to an agreement, he will remain with Inter until the end of his contract before moving to Paris in the summer.
In order to add Ziyech to the squad in time for a number of crucial domestic and international matches, PSG will now be hoping that their appeal is granted.
