A title-defining game for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and Arsenal will take place on Wednesday night at the Etihad Stadium, as the winner will take a huge step towards being crowned the champions at the end of the season.

City are aiming to win the league for the third consecutive year, and their fifth in six years, while Arsenal on the other hand, are chasing its first title since 2004, when they went the whole season unbeaten under former boss Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal have the upper hand going into this showdown against the Champions Manchester City, as a win here at the Etihad will extend their lead to 8 points, though, City still hold an advantage of two games on their title rival.

Mikel Arteta’s side have seen their lead reduced to mere five points in recent weeks, following three successive damaging draws, after two-goal leads were thrown away at Liverpool and West Ham, before the north London side themselves fought back from two goals down against Southampton in their last match.

City, on the contrary, have won their last six league matches and are entering this match in high spirit that has also seen them reach the semi-finals of the Champions League and the final of the FA Cup.

Mikel Arteta, who was formerly an assistant to Guardiola at City, before switching to the Emirates in December 2019, has failed to beat Manchester City in six league matches, with Arteta’s only triumph over his former boss coming in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

This has all that it takes to be another thriller in the long history of the Premier League, Arteta the former apprentice trying to establish his legacy against his treble-chasing former boss, and everyone is anticipating to know how far the apprentice has come in dethroning his former boss.
