Nigerians Must Add Humility To Expectations On The Super Eagles – Gernot Rohr

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has called for Nigerians to be more moderate and be humble with their expectations from the senior national team even though the squad possess potential and talents.

Nigerians are quick to pick the nation as favourites going into any game and when things don’t go their way, the outcry is always loud, something Rohr believes could be managed if the Nigerian football lovers add humility to expectations.

Nigeria will play at the next AFCON in January 2022 in Cameroon. Nigeria is one of the favourites and Rohr believes the country has a better chance than the last edition in Egypt when we came third.

“We have a better chance to win it than the last time,” Rohr said on Elegbete TV on if he honestly think the Super Eagles have what it takes to win the forthcoming AFCON.

“Our team is more experienced and confident than we were, and we also have a lot of good goalscorers. But to say we will win it, I will never say that.

“Nigerian fans must learn to stay humble sometimes. It’s a different thing to say we want to win it and another thing to say we will win it. Let’s give them the advice to do all to win it but not say we will win it.”

Nigeria are three times African Champions, and last won the AFCON in 2013 under late Stephen Keshi but missed the 2015 and 2017 editions but have qualified for two editions under Rohr.
