Manchester United set up a Carabao Cup final clash with Newcastle after they saw off Nottingham Forest 5-0 on aggregate.

United completed the job at Old Trafford with late goals from Anthony Martial and Fred to seal a 2-0 win after leading 3-0 from the first leg of their semi-final last week at the City Ground.

Despite their advantage from the first leg, Ten Hag named a strong side that included Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane, and Casemiro.

The first half was low-key until both teams had good chances just before the break. At one end, Dennis was set up by Brennan Johnson, but his shot was blocked by his own teammate, Sam Surridge. Casemiro then crossed beautifully for Wout Weghorst, but his header hit the post.

United were comfortable, but Ten Hag chose to bring on Martial and Marcus Rashford on the hour, as well as Sancho, who returned for the first time since October 22.

The Red Devils will face an in form Newcastle side who beat Southampton last night 2-1 (3-1) on aggregate.

Erik ten Hag now has the opportunity to claim a first piece of silverware in his debut season with the club, which would end a six-year wait since United’s last trophy – the 2017 Europa League under Jose Mourinho.
