Borussia Dortmund star forward Karim Adeyemi has revealed the secret to how he became so fast.

The German striker of Nigerian decent was on song for Dortmund against Chelsea in his side 1-0 win in the champions league round of 16 first leg tie at the Signal Iduna park.

In a post-game interview with CBSSportGolazo, Adeyemi, the speedster claimed that he eats a specific Nigerian dish that elevates his speed.

“I eat a lot of African food.” he explained. “I have good genetics from my dad so I think it will be difficult.

Pressed as to the exact food he eats, Adeyemi responded with a smile and then said, “It is called fufu, and it’s a Nigerian food which is very good.” he revealed.

Asked specifically if he was the fastest player in Germany, he laughed and said: “I don’t know.”

“But it’s one thing I can do good but the other players can also do other stuff better.”

21-year-old Adeyemi scored a fantastic solo goal when he picked the ball from inside his own half and ran almost the entirety of the field beating Enzo Fernandez for pace along the way before rounding the goalkeeper to slot into an empty goal. He described:

“The only thing was to get past the defender and at the end I just have to run to try to get past him and after I just looked at the goalkeeper and the goal [post] was free and I kicked the ball in.”

The atmosphere at Signal Iduna Park has long been regarded as one of the best in European football, and last night was no different.

“Everything is goosebumps when I come on the pitch. It’s very loud and I love to play here.

“Anytime you get the ball you don’t hear any noise because you’re so concentrated and I really enjoy playing here.

Adeyemi wants his team to deliver the same performance in London in a fortnight after the narrow victory over Chelsea.

“We’ve to do the same. The mentality was really good today, everybody fought for each other against a good club like Chelsea, it’s very important. it was a really intense game.
