Cristiano Ronaldo scored the winner for Manchester United as the Red Devils came from behind to beat Atalanta 3–2 in the Champions League at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Atalanta had taken a 2–0 lead inside the opening 30 minutes and went into the break in high spirits, but United would engineer a comeback in the second period.

Marcus Rashford scored the first before Harry Maguire netted the second to restore parity. And with nine minutes left on the clock, the competition’s all-time record goalscorer, Ronaldo, scored the winner to hand his side all three points.

The victory sent United to the top of Group F with six points – two more than Atalanta and third-placed Villarreal who defeated bottom-placed Young Boys 4–1.

Elsewhere, Chelsea eased past Malmö 4–0 at Stamford Bridge, with Bayern Munich also securing a 4–0 win at Benfica.
