‘It’s every player’s dream,’ Awoniyi excited to join Super Eagles

Taiwo Awoniyi, who plays as a forward for Union Berlin in the German Bundesliga, received a call-up to the Nigerian national team for this week’s World Cup qualifiers against Central African Republic, and says it’s every player’s dream to represent their country.

The former Nigeria U23 star replaces the injured Terem Moffi in attack.

“For me, it’s every player’s dream. Every player will be happy to be part of the Super Eagles and in one of them,” an elated Awoniyi told Brila FM.

“It’s hard work and dedication but for me sometimes you work hard and don’t see the result but just keep on working be patient and God will do the rest,” the 24-year-old said on his success secret.

“I’m very happy about it to be part of the Super Eagles. It’s a privilege and honour for me to be part of the team which I’m very happy about.”

Awoniyi has registered five goals in seven matches for Union Berlin in the Bundesliga this season and will seek to translate his fine form onto the national scene.
