Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko has exonerated former boss Jose Mourinho of total dault for how things went with the season of the North London club.

Mourinho was in charge of the club for 17months and led the club to the Carabao Cup final but was dismissed six days to with Tottenham eventually losing it to Manchester City under interim boss Ryan Mason.

“It was a real pleasure working with him,” Sissoko told Foot Mercato. “For me, it was a real pleasure to be able to work with him. We all know his experience and his career.

“He is an immense coach, but with us he was not able to achieve his goals but he was not the only one at fault. He left and I wish him the best. I would have liked to be able to do better like the whole team. For various reasons, it didn’t work out like that.

“We cannot go back in time and we need to move forward into the present.”

The Spurs are without a manager and are looking at various high profile options including former manager Mauricio Pochettino and former Chelsea and Inter boss Antonio Conte.

Sissoko is on international duty with France for the Euro2020 where the world champions will be looking to better their last outing at the European Championship where they finished runner-up to Portugal who they are drawn in the same group with, alongside Germany and Hungary.
