Former Chelsea defender and ex Nigerian international, Celestine Babayaro has lauded Chelsea’s approach to their 3-1 aggregate defeat of Real Madrid in the Champions League semifinal.

According to Babayaro, Chelsea approached the 13 time European Champions with no respect and outclassed them to reach their third ever Champions League final. He also said this could be one of their greatest seasons ever.

“This could go down as one of the best seasons Chelsea ever had,” Babayaro said on Chelsea TV live. “Football brings joy to everyone, fans at home.

“It’s an amazing night for every Chelsea supporter tonight, myself I’m so so happy looking at Chelsea tonight, the way they played. They played Madrid with no respect, they gave them no respect, this is a 13 time European Champions, Chelsea did an amazing job today.

“As a fan, you know I played the game for so many years but I’m a fan now, I’m like the number one fan for Chelsea now. For fans through the pandemic, football is like a relief and I’m so excited for Chelsea tonight.”

Chelsea started the season brightly under Frank Lampard but was fired after things went awful and replaced by Thomas Tuchel in January. Tuchel has transformed the team, they currently sit fourth on the league table and have two finals to play, the FA Cup Final against Leicester City and the Champions League final against Manchester City.
