Consistency Makes Neuer The Best Goalkeeper In The World, Says Gladbach’s Yann Sommer

Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer has highlighted consistency as the reason why Bayern Munich and Germany’s first choice goalkeeper is the best in the world.

Neuer joined Bayern Munich in 2011 from Schalke 04 and has held down the number one spot for club and country since then and at 34 is showing no signs of relinquishing soon.

“It’s the same for me. For years he has played at a high level. He’s a goalkeeper who is very consistent, which I think is significant,” Sommer told bundesliga.com “If I look at another goalkeeper, he has been consistently at a high level for years.

“A goalkeeper with plenty of quality, who is happy to play with the ball, has good feet and offers a lot to the team. A very complete goalkeeper is good off the line, has good positioning and is strong in the box.

“He is a goalkeeper who has earned a reputation as one of the best in the world in recent years and he’s also a good guy.”

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge over the weekend said the acquisition of Manuel Neuer and Robert Lewandowski was the foundation of the club’s success in recent years because they’re the best in the world.

Yann Sommer has been one of the best goalkeeper’s in the Bundesliga in recent time and he’s in his seventh year in Borussia as Marco Rose’s side hopes to secure an European spot before Rose departs for Dortmund at the end of the season.
