RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann has conceded this season’s Bundesliga title to Bayern Munich after the Bavarians beat Leipzig at home 1-0 and is now focused on finishing second.

Bayern without the injured Robert Lewandowski secured an important three points in the title race through a Leon Goretzka 38th minute strike and Nagelsmann has now conceded that Bayern will be champions for a ninth consecutive time.

Bayern Munich legend Philip Lahm speaking ahead of the game said it’s a game Leipzig cannot afford to lose, should they lose [which they did] the title race is over and Nagelsmann is in agreement with Lahm after the 1-0 loss.

“It’s not a goal we should be conceding,” Nagelsmann told Bundesliga about Goretzka’s strike. “But we still played very well. We pushed Bayern deep into their own half at various stages, but not for the first time this season we didn’t score.

We have to learn from that. It’d help if we had a proper goal-getter, but we don’t. We were the better side, but have to make more of our chances. Now we have to let it sink in and get on with it.”

“If the season goes as expected, Bayern will be champions. We want to finish second.” he added.

Leipzig are three points above third placed Wolfsburg who beat Cologne 1-0 on Saturday. Eintracht Frankfurt who beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 at Signal Iduna park are also in the chasing pack.
