Tuchel bemoans lack of finishing in drab draw against Leeds United

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has been left unimpressed by his forward players not being clinical in front of goal in a not so entertaining draw at Elland Road.

Chelsea dominated possession but failed to convert their chances, same as Leeds. Both teams would have goalkeepers Edouard Mendy and Illan Meslier to thank for securing a point for their teams.

“We were not clinical enough, determined enough in the counter-attacks and we didn’t find that last touch.” Tuchel said after the game.

Kai Havertz played as a false nine for the second straight game but wasn’t as lively as he was against Everton missing a very glorious chance from where he should have scored but Tuchel has backed his compatriot and said he is happy with him.

“Unfortunately, he couldn’t finish like he did in training and like he can finish. He could have been the decisive guy. Generally I am happy with him and I trust him as a nine.”

Chelsea remain fourth, three points above fifth placed West Ham having played two games more and would turn their attention to their Champions League second leg tie against Atletico Madrid in midweek.
