We Are Far From Winning A Trophy – Mourinho

As Tottenham were set to face RB Leipzig in last year’s UEFA Champions League round of 16, Jose Mourinho told me that he will not leave the club without a trophy.

The North Londoners haven’t won a silverware since 2008 and fancy their chances of making a headway this year, qualifying for the League Cup final and holding a comfortable first leg advantage against Croatian club, Dinamo Zagreb.

Mourinho however is not losing sleep over his team’s progression yet.

When I asked him about his confidence about winning a silverware this season, he said;

“Not really, it is just a little step, not even a big step to the quarter-final. 2-0 at home is a very positive result but we didn’t kill the tie, so it’s still open,”

Mourinho and Tottenham have been on an impressive run of results winning all of their last five games but the former Chelsea manager will opt to take it one step at a time.

“When we spoke the last time, we were in a very difficult run of results but at this moment we are with five consecutive wins, three in the Premier League, two in the Europa League, so the moment is better in terms of result, the team is playing well and the players are quite competitive and everybody is enjoying themselves and ready to play but we’re very far from it, even if next week we make it to the quarter finals, we look at possible list of clubs to be in the quarter finals and it’s hard.”
