Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has justified the inclusion of Tottenham and South Korea winger Heung-min Son over Liverpool and Senegal winger Sadio Mane in the Sky Sports Premier League team of 2020.
The team was selected by Gary Neville and former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher.
The team has seven Liverpool players; Goalkeeper Alisson Becker, defenders Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson, captain Jordan Henderson and Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah.
The other players are Wolves defender and captain Conor Coady, Manchester City’ Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes (who joined the league in January) and Tottenham’s duo of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son.
The choice of Heung-min Son over Sadio Mane has generated reactions on social media, with many preferring the Premier League champion to the blazing Asian.
Gary Neville has now taken to Twitter to justify Son’s inclusion with the stats of the two players in 2020, the numbers put Son over Mane.
Sadio Mane is the reigning African footballer of the year while Son is arguably the best Asian footballer on the planet right now.
