FC Bayern and the Japan Football Association (JFA) will cooperate closely in the future. The focus of the partnership is on joint support of youth talent and the exchange of training philosophies.

As part of the cooperation, FC Bayern will send coaches to Japan for workshops and training events. In return, Japanese FA coaches will have the opportunity of participating in FC Bayern’s coaching instruction in Munich. Friendlies between FC Bayern and JFA youth teams as well as joint training camps in Munich and at the academy in Japan are also planned.

FC Bayern München AG chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: “We are proud to announce this partnership with one of Asia’s strongest associations. The cooperation with the JFA is an important step in pursuing our goals in Japan.”

FC Bayern München AG executive board member for internationalisation and strategy Jörg Wacker commented: “The Japanese market is highly interesting for FC Bayern. The enthusiasm for football is impressive and the quality of young players is very high. That is why we founded the FC Bayern Football School in Japan, near Hiroshima, a few years ago. Now we want to add another building block to our global strategy with the partnership with the JFA.”

JFA President and FIFA Council member Kōzō Tashima said: “I’m very happy the friendly relationship and sporting tradition between the JFA and FC Bayern continues, in the tradition of our mutual coach Dettmar Cramer. We are fascinated by the opportunity for our biggest talents to be introduced to the level that is required of young players in European top leagues today, at the FC Bayern Campus under the guidance of FC Bayern coaches.”

The German record champions have been involved in supporting talented male and female players and in coaching instruction at the FC Bayern Football School Tsuneishi since 2016. Young players drawn from the program have again and again been called up for Japan’s national youth teams over the last few years.
