I can’t kill myself – Kolo Muani on World Cup final miss
Argentina beat France on penalties to win the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup. The game that started with Argentina dominating for a good part, ended with so much drama as Les Blues rallied back to force extra time.
Then after Kylain Mbappe cancelled out what looked like the winning goal by Messi for The Albiceleste deep into extra time, substitute Randal Kolo Muani had a golden chance to win the match for France in what would have handed his nation back-to-back World cup titles.
However, Kolo Muani could not put the chance away in what was virtually the last kick of the game as Argentina goalkeeper made arguably the greatest save in World cup history to hand his team the victory and indeed the trophy.
Speaking exclusively to Omasports.com, The in-form striker, now back at his club Eintracht Frankfurt said the thought of that miss still plays in his head.
“Yes for sure whenever I see the pictures it gets more difficult to get it out of my head but there is nothing I can about it.” Kolo Muani told Omasports exclusively. “It has happened. I have to look forward and hope that whenever I get such a chance again I try to score.”
The former Nantes forward who only moved to the Bundesliga in the summer has been in superb form for Frankfurt this season and was again amongst the goals at the weekend with a brace in Frankfurt’s 3-0 home win over Hertha Berlin. The lanky striker is now looking beyond the World cup final setback and more concentrated on what lies ahead.
“Of course it is the case that it was a setback at first and that I also had to struggle with it a bit further. Kolo Muani reflects. He added “But that will also be something that makes me stronger or from which I can set strength goals for my personal development”
Randal Kolo Muani has been a revolution in Germany this season having scored 9 goals and contributed a league leading 10 assists from a striking position in the Bundesliga.
