Chelsea cruised to a 3-1 aggregate victory over Real Madrid with a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge to set up an all English final against Manchester City in Istanbul, Turkey on May 29, 2021.

Chelsea started the game the better side and we’re in the lead earlier through Timo Werner but the goal was ruled out for offside before Werner put the Blues ahead with a head nearly on the line after Kai Havertz chip hit the bar.

After a plethora of good chances wasted by Chelsea from Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Mason Mount and N’golo Kante and brilliant saves by Edouard Mendy to keep Chelsea in it, Mason Mount finally got the second of the night from a Christian Pulisic cross to seal it.

“Brilliant,” Mason Mount said of the performance. “We worked hard and should have probably had about five. I should have had one 20 minutes before I scored but the most important thing is that we won tonight, we wanted to go into every game winning it but it’s not over, there’s one more game left.”

“Yeah, it was a kind of relief, we were 1 nil up and if they score we go into extra time and to get that goal, you can see by the celebration, it was a massive goal for us and it gave us breathing space for the last five minutes,” he said on his goal.

The emotions behind Mount’s goal.

“First half was difficult because they had a lot of possession. They made us suffer,” said Thomas Tuchel who became the first manager to reach the Champions League final back to back with different teams.

“But we never the lost the hunger, we never lost the desire to defend in the first half, second half, even better structure to defend, it was a fantastic performance in the second half and we could have scored more so much earlier to be safe but no time for criticism now, it’s a fantastic achievement. Big congratulations to the team.”

Chelsea also became the first club to have both men and women team in the Champions League final in the same season. Chelsea women will play Barcelona women in the UEFA Women’s Champions League Final in Sweden on May 16.
