Nigeria star Ndidi says fans shouldn’t relent in their support for the Super Eagles

Nigeria midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has called on fans of the Super Eagles to keep supporting the team as they head into the business end of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Nigeria will face Liberia on Saturday in Morocco before hosting Cape Verde in Lagos on Tuesday.

The Super Eagles are currently top of Group C with nine points – two more than second-placed Cape Verde, and a win against the Lone Stars on Saturday will brighten their chances of advancing to the final phase of the qualifiers, which will hold next year.

“We as players we know what we want,” Ndidi, who plays for Leceister City in England, told NFF TV. “They [the fans] should just keep supporting us. We hope for the best because we’ve been working very hard. So hopefully we come out victorious.”

Ndidi, 24, missed Nigeria’s qualifiers against Central African Republic last month through injury, but says “it is really amazing to be back with the team” and, he is looking forward to what they want to achieve.

The Super Eagles are currently in their training camp in Morocco in preparation for Saturday’s meeting against the Lone Stars.
