Grasshopper Club Zurich and Seyi Olofinjana part ways

Swiss Super League side Grasshopper Club Zurich have announced they reached a mutual agreement to end its working relationship with technical director Seyi Olofinjana with immediate effect.

The club, 27-time Super League champions, finished 8th in the league last season, barely avoiding the relegation playoffs.

“Over the past weeks, intense discussions regarding the future of the club were held. Through these open and fair conversations, the parties came to the joint decision to go separate ways,” a statement from the club read.

“As a club with a strong heritage and ambitious vision, our aim must be to continuously push it forward and challenge ourselves on a regular basis.

“Following the transparent discussions and in light of the diverging views on the future direction of the club, it was mutually recognized that change within the leadership team was inevitable.

“Seyi has always shown great dedication and committed fully to any challenge with strong passion.

“Through his work, he ensured we could tackle the season with a competitive squad. I wish them all the best for their personal and professional future and thank them sincerely for their commitment to Grasshoppers.”

Seyi Olofinjana, a former Nigeria midfielder, was the loan Manager at Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers before joining the Swiss side in April last year.
