Osimhen unavailable for Napoli against Salernitana due to injury

Napoli have announced Victor Osimhen will miss their Serie A trip to 18th-placed Salernitana on Sunday due to a muscle strain.

The 22-year-old Nigerian sustained the injury during a training session.

“Osimhen left the field prematurely with a muscle strain in his right gastrocnemius. Victor will not leave for the trip to Salerno,” read a statement on the club’s website.

Osimhen has been a vital part of Napoli’s winning machine in the Serie A this season, with his five goals in nine league games and countless impressive performances helping to keep the Blues at the top of the table.

Hopefully, the Nigerian forward will return to full fitness before the international break mid-November, when Nigeria takes on Liberia and Cape Verde in the World Cup qualifiers.
