Lionel Messi’s recent move to Inter Miami from PSG triggered a range of emotions among Inter Miami supporters, with some expressing shock and even shedding tears.

Cintia McCann, an ardent Inter Miami fan and an Argentine native, shared her reaction to the transfer news with the Miami Herald. “I started crying at work. One of my co-workers got the newsflash and he came and told me, and I was like ‘WHAT,’ and started crying. I had to step away and recoup,” McCann revealed, illustrating the profound impact Messi’s move had on her.

Christian Triay, another fan of Inter Miami, also conveyed his astonishment. “I was pretty shocked, even though all the rumors were going around saying that he was potentially coming. It’s something that you don’t believe until it happens, so when it happened, I couldn’t believe it all,” Triay admitted, reflecting the disbelief shared by many fans.

Messi’s highly anticipated debut for Inter Miami is expected to take place in a Leagues Cup clash against Cruz Azul on July 21, followed by his first MLS appearance against Charlotte FC a month later. Tickets for these matches, set to be held at DRV PNK Stadium, are currently being sold for prices exceeding $1,000 dollars. However, fans eagerly purchasing these passes consider it a worthwhile investment to witness the presence of the great Argentine.

“I think it’s worth it. Luckily for me, I’ve been a season ticket holder since 2021, so I won’t get too affected, maybe next year. But everyone wants to see the greatest player ever, so I’m not really surprised,” Triay remarked, acknowledging the exceptional opportunity to witness Messi’s brilliance firsthand.

McCann emphasized the broader impact of Messi’s arrival on the sport, stating, “It’s worth it because he’s not going to just change soccer. This team is going to do so much better for soccer [and] all across North America. It’s already a passion in Argentina and South American countries, and now they’re going to bring that here.”
