The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has retained Augustine Eguavoen as Super Eagles Head Coach after leading the team to victory against Benin Republic and goalless draw against Rwanda earlier this month. The appointment followed a recommendation from the NFF’s Technical and Development Sub-Committee.

There were reports that Eguavoen had left the job after the Super Eagles 0-0 draw with the Amavubi of Rwanda. Nevertheless, he will now lead the team in its 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Libya in October.

Eguavoen and the current technical crew that includes Fidelis Ilechukwu, Daniel Ogunmodede, Olatunji Baruwa and Tomaz Zorec will also take charge of the Super Eagles B team for the qualifying campaign for next year’s African Nations Championship, otherwise known as CHAN.

The NFF also confirmed the appointment of Coach Justin Madugu as the interim Head Coach of the Senior Women’s National Team, Super Falcons.

With the departure of Randy Waldrum due to family reasons, the Executive Committee approved the recommendation of the Technical and Development Sub-Committee for Coach Justin Madugu to lead the remaining technical crew and take charge of the Super Falcons, pending the appointment of a substantive Head Coach.

The Super Falcons’ next assignment is the Women Africa Cup of Nations finals, taking place in Morocco next year.
