Portugal boss Martinez ‘privileged’ to coach Ronaldo
Portugal manager Roberto Martinez has said he feels privileged having star forward Cristiano Ronaldo in his team.
Ronaldo, 39, made his debut for Portugal 21 years ago and has achieved remarkable success with European side.
Taking a question from Omasports ahead of their Euro quarterfinal clash with France, Martinez noted that with Ronaldo in the team, everyday feels like a new day.
“For me, everyday feels like a new day. It’s significant to see a player that’s won everything, a player that has huge amounts of records, numbers of games for the national team, number of goals,” the Spaniard said. “And the freshness that he brings is surprising.
“As a national team, he’s an example. He’s someone that wants to win everyday, that wants to compete everyday. When you get a player that committed, you feel privileged.”
Ronaldo and Portugal are looking to win their second European Championship following their great triumph in 2016.
