Inter Milan targeting Nigeria’s Maduka Okoye

Inter Milan are targeting Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye as a possible backup for Yann Sommer next season, according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

Okoye, 24, is one of three players the Italian champions are looking to sign this summer.

One would be Athletico Paranaense and Brazil goalkeeper Bento. The other is Genoa keeper Josep Martinez.

Former Bayern Munich veteran Yann Sommer will remain at the club. He will keep his place as the first-choice starter for at least one more season.

It is understood that Inter’s plan is to sign a young keeper. The idea would be to bring someone in to deputize for Sommer next season – but then inherit the Swiss’s starting shirt in the long term.

Okoye displaced Marco Silvestri as the starting keeper for Udinese this past season with his solid performances.
