Former Super Eagles attacker Osaze Peter Odemwingie has taken to professional golf after receiving his PGA Badge.

Odemwingie, 42, retired from football in 2018 after playing for clubs in France, Russia and the English Premier League.

The Nigerian, who made his Super Eagles debut in 2002, said golf has made him a better person.

“It’s a long journey,” Odemwingie said. “I fell in love with the game and played lots of pro-am as an amateur.

“Coming from a football background, I had a decent career in a team sport.

“Now, in golf it’s different, sometimes it can be lonely, just you and your caddie, if you have one, but PGA itself feels like a family.

“It’s motivating to be around people who have the drive to achieve and get the badge on their chest.

“It’s inspiring because we learn so many life skills that, even at my age are still very beneficial,” he said.

Odemwingie played 63 times for Nigeria, scoring 11 goals.
