Super Eagles fall to Benin in 2026 World Cup qualifier

Nigeria are still without a win in their 2026 World Cup qualifying group after falling to a 2-1 defeat to Benin Republic.

Nigeria took the lead after 27 minutes through Raphael Onyedika but Benin fought back to level matters and scored again to go ahead before halftime.

This loss leaves Nigeria in fifth place in Group C, with Benin leading the table.

In the Super Eagles four matches during the Fifa World Cup qualifying stages, they have yet to claim a win, managing three draws and suffering a loss.

The Fifa World Cup qualifiers will resume in March 2025, with the Super Eagles set to face Rwanda on March 17th, followed by a match against Zimbabwe on March 24th.
