Victor Boniface scored his first goal since his return from injury as Bayer Leverkusen beat West Ham 2-0 in the first leg of their Europa League quarterfinal tie at the Bay Arena on Thursday night.
Leverkusen dominated the game but could only find the opener in the 83rd minute, thanks to a Jonas Hofmann strike. Boniface, who returned from a four-month injury layoff last week, scored the second in stoppage time after coming on as a substitute late in the game.
The win extends Leverkusen’s unbeaten run in all competitions to 46.
