Nigeria head coach Jose Peseiro has voiced his desire to make history with Nigeria by winning the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast on Sunday.
Nigeria and hosts Ivory Coast will square off in Abidjan for the title.
It’s Peseiro’s first attempt at continental glory and the Portuguese highlighted the significance of competing in a Nations Cup final for the first time.
“Participating in a final holds immense importance. This being my inaugural AFCON experience has indeed been special,” Peseiro said in a prematch presser.
“The emotional atmosphere in Africa is truly unique. This journey has been a profound learning experience, and I’m eager to clinch the title with the Nigerian team on Sunday.”
The Super Eagles have won the Nations Cup three times – 1980, 1994 and 2013 – and will try to clinch a fourth when they file out at the Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara in Abdijan.
