Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has said he “may be done” if Nigeria wins the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Osimhen won the Italian Serie A with Napoli – ending a 33-year league title drought for the club – and was crowned the 2023 CAF African footballer for the year.
The 25-year-old also finished eighth on the 2023 Ballon d’Or rankings.
However, the star forward feels emerging victorious with Nigeria in Ivory Coast might just top all other achievements.
Ahead of Nigeria’s second group match against hosts Ivory Coast on Thursday, Osimhen admitted that winning the trophy “would be one of the best moments” of his life.
“I have done that with Napoli; I have made history, but no matter what I do, no matter how many goals I have scored, to be able to win the AFCON, it would go a long way in my life but probably when I do that, I am done,” he admitted, while speaking to AFP at the Nigerian team hotel in Abidjan.
”I am really looking forward to winning something with the Super Eagles.”
Nigeria will take on Ivory Coast on Thursday in their second group stage match as they look to bounce back from their 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea in their opener.
