Senegal midfielder Kouyate leaves AFCON camp for father’s burial

Senegal midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate has left the Teranga Lions camp at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast to attend the burial of his father.

Kouyate’s dad passed away on Tuesday in Senegal’s capital, Dakar.

The 34-year-old former West Ham and Crystal Palace player was on the bench as Senegal began their title-defense campaign with a 3-0 win over Gambia on Monday.
