Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen is hopeful the Super Eagles can claim a fourth Africa Cup of Nations title in Ivory Coast – a decade after their last triumph.
Three-time winners, Nigeria last won the continental event in 2013. Last time out, in Cameroon, the Super Eagles didn’t make it past the knockout stage, but Osimhen, who was recently crowned the best player in Africa, says they have the quality to emerge top of the heap this time around.
“The most important thing for us now is to go to Ivory Coast and win the tournament,” the Napoli star striker declared when he addressed the team at dinner in Dubai after they celebrated his coronation as the best player in Africa.

“I believe in this group, we have bunch of talented players to execute the job, fingers crossed and we are going to do so well.”
This will be Osimhen’s second AFCON after his debut in the competition in 2019 in Egypt, where Nigeria finished third.
Nigeria will open against Equatorial Guinea on 14 January before facing hosts Ivory Coast four days later and a final group stage match-up with Guinea-Bissau on 22 January.
