Dortmund star Karim Adeyemi gives back to Nigerian communities; unveils water treatment plant
Karim Adeyemi, Nigerian-German footballer, has committed to giving back to Nigerian communities.
The 21-year-old, on a recent visit to Nigeria, said his heart “is still here,” while speaking with Soccernet.
Adeyemi paid homage to the King of Ibadan, his father’s hometown, and visited the Karim Adeyemi Foundation Academy.
The Karim Adeyemi Foundation also just achieved a significant first milestone in Nigeria: the planning, financing, construction and commissioning of a drink water treatment plant for 20,000 people in the Odo Osun community.
Speaking on his drive to invest in football development in Nigeria, Adeyemi said he was moved by the sight of kids playing football on the pitch when he came to the country, and that emotion inspired him to give back to the communities.
“As I said, I think I have my roots here. My father is from here, and his heart is still here in Nigeria. Of course, my heart is also here in Nigeria,” he said.
Adeyemi was born in Germany to a Romanian mother and a Nigerian father.
However, Adeyemi pledged allegiance to Germany and scored on his debut back in 2021.
