Happy to have Boniface, says Leverkusen sporting director
Bayer Leverkusen sporting director, Simon Rolfes, has again lauded Nigerian striker Victor Boniface, following their return to the top of the Bundesliga standings.
Leverkusen beat Werder Bremen 3-0 to reopen a two-point lead over Bayern Munich at the summit.
Boniface, who joined Leverkusen in July from Belgian side Union Saint Gilliose, leads the goalscoring chart for the club with seven goals and Rolfes said they were never in doubt about the Nigerian’s abilities.
“We were convinced about Boniface and his physicality because we felt it was some element of our game that last season,” Rolfes told Omasports, who was reporting from Werder Bremen.
“We are happy to have him for sure.”
Leverkusen are on a 13-match winning run and will look to stretch their streak when they face BK Hacken in the Europa League on Thursday.
