PSG forward and France international Kylian Mbappe is of the opinion that footballers should not earn salaries for playing their respective countries and such money be put into use for the citizens.

Mbappe who is currently on international duty with France reportedly gives his fee for each national match he plays – around €20,000 for each game – to a different charity each time.

“Players shouldn’t earn money for defending their national team. The money could be put to better use by their citizens in recognition of their trust and support.” he said, quoted by Sport Bible.

Mbappe donated his 2018 World Cup earnings reported by L’Equipe to be around €300,000 to the Premiers de Cordees charity, which aims to organise sports for children with disabilities.

“I earn enough money – a lot of money. So, I think it is important to help those who are in need. A lot of people are suffering, a lot of people have diseases. For people like us, giving a helping hand to people is not a big thing.” he told Times on his charity activities.
