Nigerians lash out at Napoli after club admin trolls Osimhen over penalty miss

Nigerians took to social media to berate Serie A side Napoli over a video that made a mockery of star forward Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen, the league’s highest goalscorer last season, missed a penalty in Napoli’s goalless draw with Bologna and also reacted angrily after he was substituted – an action he has since apologized for.

However, the club, via its TikTok account, posted a video of the missed penalty kick with a ludicrous background voiceover. The voiceover, a playback audio of 2x speed, repeated “Gimme the penalty” and was followed by a long, wry laugh.

This, expectedly, didn’t go down well with Nigerians who labelled the club as ‘ungrateful’ to Osimhen, who helped the club to its first league title in 33 years.

Many angry reactions followed, forcing the club to take the video from the platform.
