“We will try our best to stop Osimhen,” says Union Berlin director after Champions League draw with Napoli
Union Berlin director Michel Parensen has said his side will try their best to stop Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen after they were drawn to face Napoli in the Champions League.
Napoli, Union Berlin, Real Madrid and Braga are all in the same group for the group stage of this season’s Champions League.
Napoli reached the quarterfinals last season and will be confident of going steps further this season.
The Italian side possess the attacking talent – one of whom is Victor Osimhen, who finished as highest goalscorer in the Serie A last season and scored 5 goals in 6 Champions League games for the Italians last term.
Speaking after the tournament’s draw in Monaco, Union Berlin’s director Michel Parensen acknowledged Osimhen’s striking prowess but plans on reducing the Nigerian’s influence.
“We are not scared of Osimhen,” Parensen said, when asked about coming up against Osimhen.
“Of course he’s a really good player. He’s scored a lot of goals but we’re not scared of him.
“We will try to do our best to stop him and we know it would be hard to stop this but we will try.”
The group stages will run from 19 September to 13 December, with the final at Wembley on 1 June.
