Super Falcons to pocket $60,000 each for reaching World Cup knockout stage
Nigeria’s Super Falcons will each get $60,000 after making it through to the round of 16 of the Fifa Women’s World Cup.
Nigeria finished second in the group, with 5 points from 3 matches. They played a goalless draw with Canada in their opener before beating hosts Australia 3-2 in the second game. Despite a stalemate with Ireland in their final group game on Monday, they made it through.
It’s a total of $1.38m for the Super Falcons, while the Nigeria Football Federation receives $1.87m. A total of $3.25m will be paid to the NFF – the country’s football governing body – who will then pay the players their share.
For a place in the quarterfinals, Nigeria will face the winners of Group D in Brisbane, which could be England if they draw with or beat China on Tuesday.
