Fifa slams Watford with transfer ban over Samuel Kalu transfer

FIFA has officially imposed an international transfer ban on Watford, an English Championship side.

The ban comes after Watford failed to pay solidarity compensation to Samuel Kalu’s former youth team, Megamu Football Academy Club, in Nigeria.

This compensation was due when Kalu moved from Bordeaux to Watford in January 2022.

Despite a 45-day ultimatum given by FIFA to settle the payment issue, Watford did not comply with the directives.

As a result, FIFA has now sanctioned Watford with a worldwide ban, effective from 19th July 2023, until the case is resolved between the two teams.
