Chelsea Announce Signing Of French Forward Nkunku From Leipzig
Chelsea football club have announced the signing of French forward Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig on a six-year contract and will be available to play for the club ahead of the coming 2023/24 season, the West London club have announced on their website.
The 25-year-old is the club’s first signing since they announced former Tottenham Hotspurs manager Mauricio Pochettino as their new permanent manager.
The French International has made 10 caps for his country and was absent for some parts of last season due to injury, but still managed to contribute 23 goals for RB Leipzig who finished 3rd in the league and also won the German Cup.
” I am incredibly happy to be joining Chelsea. A big effort was made to bring me to the club and I am looking forward to meeting my new Coach and teammates and showing Chelsea supporters what I can do on the pitch, said Nkunku.
” Having played in the Ligue 1 and Bundesliga, I now want to play in the Premier League, one of the strongest leagues in the world. I am very excited for this challenge and will be proud to wear the Chelsea shirt”.
Nkunku started his professional career at Paris Saint-Germain where he made 78 first-team appearances, helping the club to three Ligue 1 titles and two Coupe de France wins before leaving for Germany in the summer of 2019.
He scored 35 goals in all competitions during the 2021/22 campaign and was named Bundesliga Player of the Season and German PFA Player of the Season. The DFB-Pokal also won.
