Mbappé expresses admiration for Messi and criticizes lack of respect in France

Paris Saint-Germain star forward Kylian Mbappé has spoken highly of Lionel Messi, hailing him as one of the greatest players in the history of football.

Mbappé also expressed his disappointment over Messi’s departure from PSG, stating, “It’s never good news when someone like Messi leaves.”

Messi, this month, signed for American side Inter Miami after two years in French side PSG. The Argentine World Cup winner, however, didn’t get the kind of respect he commanded during his time in Spain with Barcelona, and was sometimes jeered at.

Mbappé shared his puzzlement at the lack of respect Messi received during his time in France. He questioned why so many people seemed relieved when Messi left PSG, emphasizing that the Argentine superstar didn’t receive the recognition and appreciation he deserved.

“I don’t quite understand why so many people were so relieved that he was gone. He didn’t get the respect he deserved in France”, he told Gazzetta.

The remarks come as Lionel Messi recently made a surprising move to join Inter Miami in America.
