Paris St-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has firmly denied any involvement in the Manchester United takeover talks, dismissing the reports linking him to the Glazer family’s bid to secure additional funds for Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani. Al-Khelaifi clarified that his sole focus remains on PSG and that he has no connection with Manchester United or any other club.

During a meeting of the European Clubs’ Association (ECA) in Istanbul before the Champions League final, Al-Khelaifi emphasized his commitment to PSG, stating, “Paris St-Germain is my club, in my heart, and I have nothing to do with Manchester United. It makes me laugh. I am Qatari, right? If people ask me my opinion, I will answer them for sure – and that’s what they do.”

Sheikh Jassim, the Qatari banker, has repeatedly stated that his offer for Manchester United was made in a personal capacity, distancing it from any wider Qatari involvement. Al-Khelaifi’s clarification reinforces Sheikh Jassim’s position.

Al-Khelaifi, who chairs the beIN Sport broadcaster and heads Qatari Sports Investments, highlighted his willingness to share his expertise with others who seek his advice on potential investments in English clubs. He mentioned engaging with a group interested in two English clubs, one small and the other big, although he refrained from disclosing specific details.

While denying any contact with the Raine Group, the organization handling the United sale process, Al-Khelaifi expressed his openness to new investment in football, not limited to Qatar but encompassing all parties. He stated, “I want the best for European competitions. If it’s within the regulation, why not? Not only Qatari, everyone.”

As the rumors surrounding Manchester United’s ownership continue to circulate, Al-Khelaifi’s remarks provide clarity regarding his involvement and reaffirm his dedication to Paris St-Germain. With his focus firmly on his role at PSG and his willingness to support football’s growth, Nasser Al-Khelaifi remains a prominent figure in the sport.
