Uefa Champions League: Inter Beat AC To Take First Leg Advantage

Two early goals from Edin Dzeko and Mkhitaryan gave Inter Milan a 2-0 victory over rival AC Milan in the Champions League semi-final first leg at San Siro on Wednesday.

The match was the first meeting in Europe between the two iconic clubs since their quarterfinal second-leg match in 2005 was abandoned.

This season is the first time in over a decade any of the two teams is in the semifinals of the champions league.

Inter took advantage of their early dominance with a quickfire double in front of a full-packed San Siro.

A corner from Calhanoglu found Edin Dzeko inside the box and the striker fired a precise first-touch shot into the left corner that left AC goalkeeper Maignan with no chance.

Inter doubled their lead just three minutes later, Frederico Dimarco gave a good pass to Mhkitaryan who was in a good position inside the box, and the Armenian midfielder slammed the ball into the net.

AC improved in the second half but they couldn’t create any clear-cut chances to trouble Onana at the far end of the post, as Inter see out a big victory ahead of the return leg next week.
