U17 AFCON: Eaglets Lose World Cup Berth After Defeat To Burkina Faso

Nigeria’s U17 football team, the Golden Eaglets will miss this year’s U-17 World Cup after a 2-1 defeat to Burkina Faso’s U17 team in the quarterfinal match in Algiers.

The best four teams in this tournament currently ongoing in Algeria will represent the African continent in U-17 World Cup in November this year.

The Eaglets came second in Group B behind Morocco and were paired with the runner-up in Group C Burkina Faso.

The Nigerian team almost makes use of their early dominance by hitting the crossbar before Burkina Faso took the lead on the stroke of halftime.

Aboubacar Camara took advantage of a mistake by Eaglet’s defender to score the opener for Burkina Faso, before he got his second from a penalty kick in the 56th minute.

Abubakar Abdullahi reduced the deficit for Nigeria in the 67th minute.

Morocco, Senegal, Mali, and Burkina Faso after making it to the last four, will represent Africa at the World Cup.
