William Saliba and Oleksandr Zinchenko have been ruled out for the remainder of the season in a significant blow to Arsenal’s title hopes.
Saliba has been out since March following a back issue he sustained in Arsenal’s Europa League round of 16 defeat by Sporting Lisbon, and he is now out of Arsenal’s remaining three league games this season.
Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Zinchenko was forced off during Arsenal’s 2-0 win at Newcastle United last Sunday, and he has now been confirmed to join Saliba out of the season.
The news of the pair being ruled out of the season will come as a big blow to Arsenal’s faint hopes of leapfrogging Manchester City at the top of the table, they are trailing Guardiola’s side with one point and a game less.
Arsenal, who are on 81 points and with just three games left for them to play this season, will host Brighton at home on Sunday, as they still keep hopes of beating Manchester City to the Premier League title.
