SERIE A: Osimhen’s Goal Wins Napoli First Title In Thirty-three Years
Napoli are the champion of the 2022-23 Italian league and ending a 33-year wait for a league title after playing a 1-1 draw away at Udinese.
They have now in the process secured their third title in history, waiting for over three decades since winning the second title in 1990 during the days of Diego Maradona at the club.
The league’s top scorer this season Victor Osimhen scored the decisive title-winning goal in the 52nd minute after it was looking like Napoli’s title celebration might be delayed again till the weekend.
They missed the chance to clinch the title at the weekend with a 1-1 draw at home with Salernitana, and they would have been envisaging the same scenario when Lovric took the lead for Udinese in the 13th minute.
The draw ensures Napoli are 16 points clear of 2nd-placed Lazio and are mathematically the champions with five games still left to play this season.
It has been a wonderful season for Napoli that has also seen them reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
