His trip to Asia came after the club’s 4-2 defeat at home to Lorient in the league on Sunday and he has been suspended from taking part in club activities for the next two weeks.

The former Barcelona player’s contract with the French club is set to expire next month and PSG are offering him an option to extend.

Messi asked to leave for commercial work in Saudi Arabia but was rejected by PSG.

The Argentine’s suspension will take place with immediate effect and has also been fined by the club.

The seven-time Ballon Dor winner has been linked with a return to Barcelona all season.

Messi has scored 19 goals and made 19 assists in all competitions this season, and can win a successive league title with PSG who are five points clear at the top of the table.

If Messi decides not to take an extension at the French club following this incident, an offer to join his rival Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia has been rumored for a while, and a chance to play in the Major Leagues Soccer in America also can not be ruled out.
