Manchester City striker Erling Halaand has set a new Premier League goalscoring record, after reaching the 35-goal mark in City’s 3-0 victory over West Ham United on Wednesday night.
The highest number of goals any player has ever scored in a Premier League season is 34 before Haaland broke the record.
The Norwegian equaled the 34 goals jointly held by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole in his last league-scoring appearance.
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah set the record with 32 goals in a 38-game season in 2016-17.
” It’s a special night and a special moment. I’m proud and happy.” Haaland said.
“It feels amazing and I’m really happy and I’m also happy for three points, in the end, that’s what that matter, and I’m happy”.
” Yeah, it’s going well and now it’s time to focus on game by game. I’ve said this for a long time and that’s what the team is doing. The team is so good and I’m happy.
Haaland has now scored 51 goals for City in all competitions this season.
